Take the beef shank and hand it to your dog. This is one of those recipes where one must know one's dog. The weight bearing bone in the shank is very hard. It can break teeth. If one feeds beef shanks one should let their dog eat all the meat off of the bone then take up the bone. Do not feed these if you have an aggressive chewer who may get caried away with the bone before you have a chance to take it away.
